Job Title: Social/Gender-Based Violence Officer

Location: Mogadishu based

Reports to: Social/GBV Specialist

Expected Travel: 50%

Employment duration: 10 months

This position is contingent upon project award and funding Summary of the key functions,

The position holder shall support the Social and GBV Specialist in the quality implementation and delivery of the Essential package of health services in the project areas. She/he will mainly be responsible for the planning, daily implementation, and coordinating of the gender-based violence and social safeguard activities in the project area. The incumbent will also develop and maintain close working relationships with the MOH teams and promote partnerships with other health actors.

II.  RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Responsibility #1 Program development

In collaboration with the Social/GBV Specialist, the GBV safeguard Officer will;

·         Support the SGBV specialist in the implementation of a package of GBV services (awareness raising, case identification, counseling, and management),

·         Track the number of beneficiaries receiving gender-based violence (GBV) services (awareness raising, case identification, counseling, and management).

·         Track the number/status of GBV service utilization by women in the health facilities

·         Identify the main risks in delivering GBV and FGM/C services in the targeted health facilities

·         Sensitize the communities and health workers on the grievance response mechanism (GRM), particularly on issues related to sexual abuse, harassment, exploitation, and disproportionate use of force among females.

·         Monitor any forms of GBV that may occur in the recruitment or retention of female workers and the delivery of services.

·         Promote trust and confidentially in the delivery of GBV services particularly by vulnerable and marginalized groups.

·         Conduct ongoing supervision of GBV and FGM/C health services to ensure they are aligned with the aims of project objectives, service delivery needs, and expected results.

·         Ensure completion, accuracy, and quality of GBV data recorded.

·         Collaborate closely with health teams to support multi-sectoral initiatives to GBV and FGM/C.

·         Identify gaps of knowledge in SRH service delivery, related to GBV and FGM/C through training needs assessment and monitoring and supervision findings.

Skills and qualifications

A.  EDUCATION/TRAINING

·         Education: BA or equivalent in Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Human Rights, or related degree desired.

·         Work Experience: 3+ years, experience in the implementation of Sexual and Reproductive Health interventions, specifically focused on GBV and FGM.

·         Demonstrated experience leading GBV and FGM prevention and response activities in a healthcare setting

·         Fluency in English is required

·         Experience working with case files and databases and providing regular documentation preferred.

·         Fluency in English and Somali

·         Computer literacy in MS Word, and Excel.
