SOS Children’s Villages International is the umbrella organization to which all SOS Children’s Villages including SOS Children’s Villages Somalia Association is affiliated. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia has officially been working in Somalia since 1985. SOS is currently working in 137 countries worldwide. We are committed to the welfare of children – often throughout the whole of their childhood, and to strengthening families and communities as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect. We also run education and health facilities. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS Children’s Villages Somalia current works in three regions; Banadir Regions (Heliwa, Wadajir, Dharkenley and Dayninle districts) southwest-state (Baidoa, Elbarde, Barawe, Burhakaba, Bardale, Qansaxdhere and Hudur) Hirshabelle State (Jowhar, Adale & Balcad).

Position Title: Communication and Branding Manager
Reporting To: Head of Funds Development, Partnership and Communication

JOB SUMMARY
The National Communications and Branding Manager leads the brand strengthening process for SOS Children’s Villages, ensuring a consistent brand aligned with the organization's overall mission. This role involves providing innovative marketing and branding insights to enhance SOS CV's communication efforts, with a focus on creating impactful, distinctive, and consistent content that effectively conveys SOS CV's intervention impact and brand value proposition through appropriate channels. The manager also facilitates the implementation of the SOS CV global brand framework while allowing for necessary local adaptations.
Additionally, this individual is responsible for gathering and producing key messages and materials for both internal and external communication purposes across the Member Association. As a member of the regional communications network, the manager actively contributes to the global team, ensuring that regional perspectives are understood and represented. The primary goal of this role is to drive digital fundraising, marketing, communications, and branding for SOS Children’s Villages in Somalia.

1. Program Communications for advocacy and awareness.
· The Communications and Branding Manager will work closely with SOS Program section to ensure that relevant program materials such as Human-Interest Stories, factsheets and info graphs are developed and disseminated to donors and target groups through relevant media and network channels.
· The communication Manager will monitor and evaluate the brand strengthening process in MA, drive brand integration and report to the head of fund and development manager on progress and any challenges faced.
· Pro-actively research and produce communications content (such as stories, interviews, short videos, etc.) and act as the MA chief editor for communications content shared by key stakeholders.
· Drive internal and external communications from the promotion of user generated content (i.e., blogs, social media channels, wikis etc.).
· Represent the MA in the regional brand and networks (for example, attend meetings and phone conferences; support strategic planning, etc.) and share best practices, progress made and challenges faced. In both networks, he/she will convey the MA perspective on the global actions and directives to ensure that they are relevant to the region.
· Enable and consult program managers and co-workers on issues related to brand and communications; run and facilitate training across the MA, as directed and appropriate.
2. Content production and Publications:
· Develop an external communication strategy to position SOS Children’s Villages as a leading organization in Alternative Child Care.
· Collaborate with the program team to create target marketing materials.
· Lead content development, including social media assets, email newsletters, and case studies.
· Use analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communication campaigns.
· Draft, edit, and proofread communication materials, including reports, minutes, proposals, and presentations.
· Support the production and updating of publications and reports, ensuring quality and dissemination.
· Oversee the design and publication of the organization’s Annual Report and key publications.
· Manage and update all social media accounts and the organization’s website.
· Coordinate with global teams to gather impact stories showcasing the SOS CV Somalia program's effectiveness.
3. Events/campaign.
· Assist in organizing and generating public support for special events and campaigns to promote strategic goals.
· Support organization of workshops, seminars, campaigns, events and project review meetings including agendas and meeting minutes.
4. Monitoring and evaluation
· Monitor and evaluate impact of communication materials and advocacy events/campaigns to target audiences.
5. Values and Ethics.
· The candidate should have a high level of integrity, accountability, and punctuality and be willing to work beyond normal working hours. He/she should also demonstrate and be exemplary in portraying SOS CV values and ethics. He/she should be a good team player.
Skills and qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Education: The candidate must have a master’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
· The candidate must have a minimum of 5-8 years’ work experience in a similar position to an international organization.
· Candidate should be able to work independently – with minimum supervision and guidance from supervisors.
· Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage.
· Skills: Excellent written and oral English communication skills and proficiency in Somalia are required.
· Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
· He/she should have advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher).
· Candidates with design and layout skills and adept in using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are an added advantage.
· The candidate must have all the pre-requisites skills sets and basic knowledge related to the use of ICT and media related equipment/software.
