Driver in Buroa field office
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Buroa Somaliland. The position is paid according to SG2
.
Your responsibilities
- Facilitates the movement of staff and visitors within the county as planned, ensuring the safety and security of passengers and the vehicle.
- Picks up and drops off staff and official visitors based on local field travel requirements.
- Monitors road conditions regularly and provides continuous updates to the supervisor regarding the state of roads, vehicle condition, and security situation.
- Ensures goods are loaded into the vehicle in compliance with local, international, and WHH safety standards.
- Verifies that all scheduled trips have the necessary authorizations before departure.
- Immediately reports any accidents, defects, or missing equipment to the supervisor.
- Adheres to internal guidelines for vehicle maintenance, fueling, and safety.
- Maintains the assigned vehicle’s cleanliness and ensures proper upkeep on a daily basis.
- Completes the vehicle log sheet for every movement or trip, both in the smartphone and the logbook.
- Inspects the vehicle’s mechanical condition, ensuring seat belts are functioning properly and fire extinguishers are in place, before embarking on any trip.
- Collects and delivers official documents, goods, and other items to designated destinations.
- Ensures the availability of all required documents and supplies, including vehicle insurance, tax regulations, logbook, tools, GPS recharge, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
Skills and qualifications
Your profile
- Secondary School Certificate
- 3 years’ work experience as a Driver in volatile region; experience working in a Humanitarian context is a plus.
- Strict adherence to the traffic rules and familiar with regulations stipulated in the Traffic Act
- Fluent in Somali and at least basic level English
- Good interpersonal and INGO service skills
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the assigned region
- Experience in driving 4/4, automatic and manual transmission vehicles compulsory
- Automobile maintenance experience and basic knowledge of mechanics is an added advantage.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- First Aid certificate from a recognized institution will be an asset
- Valid Driving License
- The driver must be familiar with Somaliland Traffic rules and regulations.
- Possess Strong technical and mechanical skills for 4X4 wheel driver vehicle.
- Having been based or worked in Buroa is an added advantage
