The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in cooperation with the Somalia Federal Ministry of Interior and Federal Affairs, is implementing various projects in Somalia, across multiple sectors and regions. In Jubaland Kismayo, GIZ is piloting the graduation approach towards social and economic inclusion of multi-dimensionally poor communities, with a special focus on women headed households, through the project “Socio-economic participation of poor female-headed households in Kismayo” (GIZ SEPOW). This inclusion is achieved through coordinated measures consisting of social protection (including cash transfers), social and economic empowerment, life skills and livelihoods training and financial inclusion
SEPOW Project is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Project Assistant who will contribute to the day-today operations of the project.
Responsibilities
➢ He/ She will assist the SEPOW Technical Team in ensuring smooth and timely delivery of field activities.
➢ The Project Assistant will work closely with the project technical team to provide technical, and field-level support for the effective implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the
SEPOW project’s activities in Kismayo. This will be through assisting in beneficiary engagement, community mobilization, logistical support, activity scheduling and daily coordination with implementing partners and other key actors.
➢ The Project Assistant will be assisting the technical team in the function of coordination, scheduling, feedback and monitoring of project activities, as well as supporting documentation, and any other tasks relevant for ensuring timely implementation of project
deliverables.

The Project Assistant will also perform the following tasks:
• Coordination
➢ Assist the SEPOW technical team in the planning and implementation of project activities in collaboration with SEPOW implementing partners, target beneficiaries, relevant government partners and other key actors,
➢ Assist in the scheduling and logistics for training sessions, self-help group meetings, and stakeholder engagements,
➢ Assist in following up and championing the target households’ participation in the graduation process, for example through calling the 470 households
• Scheduling
➢ Assist the SEPOW technical team to develop and maintain detailed project calendars and activity schedules,
➢ In consultation of the SEPOW technical team, organize and schedule regular project team meetings, meetings with implementing partner, beneficiary household visits, and relevant community engagements,
➢ Assist the technical team in tracking participation of target households throughout each stage of the graduation process, maintaining accurate attendance and engagement records,
➢ Proactively identify and document cases where households disengage or drop out, promptly flagging these cases to the project technical team,
➢ Work with the project technical team, coaches and mentors to investigate reasons for drop-offs, and support the development and implementation of tailored follow-up actions or interventions to encourage re-engagement and minimize attrition.
• Feedback and Reporting
➢ Assist in operating the project’s community complaint hotline, receiving calls professionally, answering simple questions and documenting cases for follow up of technical team,
➢ Support the project technical team in collecting and compiling data from field activities, i for reporting.
➢ Draft meeting notes, activity summaries, and beneficiary feedback reports,
➢ Flag and report any gatekeeping reports and/or cases to the project management team,
➢ Assist in facilitating community sensitization sessions to promote project objectives, activities and code of conduct against gatekeeping,
➢ Ensure that project communication is inclusive, culturally sensitive, and gender-responsive,
➢ Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories for knowledge sharing.
• Monitoring
➢ As directed by technical team, conduct field visits to track progress, gather beneficiary feedback, and identify challenges,
➢ Assist in conducting post-distribution monitoring,
➢ Assist in conducting pre and post training assessments,

➢ As directed by technical staff, support the maintenance of the project’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) database,
➢ Contribute to data collection, verification, and analysis for data-informed decision-making,
Skills and qualifications
Qualifications and specialist knowledge
➢ A Diploma or equivalent in community development, management, social science, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
➢ 1 years of relevant experience in project coordination, community development or mobilization, or a similar role,
➢ Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail,
➢ High levels of motivation and proactive and problem-solving mindset,
➢ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when interacting with multi-dimensionally poor female led households, and other project actors,
➢ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
➢ Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
➢ Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
➢ Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
