Job Summary:
Project Coordinator for Women & Youth Economic Empowerment will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives aimed at improving the economic opportunities of women and youth from vulnerable extreme poor communities in Banadir region. This role involves managing projects that create opportunities, enhance skills, and provide resources for these groups to achieve financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Design and Implementation
• Lead implementation of livelihood projects for empowering women and youth economically
• Develop detailed work plan for successful implementation of project plans, goals, and strategies aligned with the organization’s objectives ensuring the project adheres to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Lead the assessment of community needs to design appropriate livelihood interventions that address specific challenges, such as unemployment, lack of skills, and limited access to financial services.
• Contribute to design interventions in entrepreneurship, vocational training, and market linkages.
• Lead the production of good quality case studies and human interest stories relating to the project to support preparation of fundraising materials and advocacy material
• Coordinate the distribution of resources and tools to beneficiaries, ensuring timely and effective support.
• Participation and contribution to Senior Management Team decision-making process and provide strategic input
• Lead and contribute to the development of concept notes and proposals
• Track programme budgets ensuring expenditure is in line with agreed project plans and budget.
• Work with the Finance and project teams to initiate and finalise budget revisions in a timely manner according to donor regulations.
• Coordinate procurement processes in line with organizational policies and donor requirements.
• Supporting the Programmes Manager in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Submits timely and accurate projects reports in accordance with internal and donor requirements.
Capacity Building and Training
• Facilitate training and capacity-building activities for beneficiaries in income-generating skills, entrepreneurship, and vocational training tailored to the needs of women and youth.
• Promote financial literacy, business development, and leadership skills.
• Empower participants with knowledge about accessing credit, savings, and other financial services.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Represent YouthLink in coordination forums, advocacy networks, and other relevant platforms.
• Collaborate with government bodies, NGOs, and private sector partners to maximize project impact.
• Engage community leaders and local influencers to ensure acceptance and participation in the project.
• Build networks for beneficiaries to access markets, funding, and mentorship.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Assist in developing tools and systems to track the progress of projects.
• Collect and analyze data to measure impact and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare reports for stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
• Manage project budgets and ensure efficient use of resources.
Advocacy and Policy Influence
• Participate in advocacy for policies and projects that support women and youth in economic activities.
• Raise awareness about barriers faced by women and youth, promoting equality and inclusion.
• Represent the organization in forums and meetings related to women and youth economic empowerment

Qualifications
• Education: A degree in development studies, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing projects focused on economic empowerment, livelihoods, particularly for women and youth.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with gender-sensitive approaches, youth empowerment frameworks, and financial inclusion tools.
• Tools: Proficiency in project management software and data analysis tools.
