Prosopis Expert

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year.  Employment location will be Buroa - Somaliland. The position is paid according to SG6.

 Your responsibilities 

[[• Organize and facilitate awareness-raising sessions and demonstration courses on Prosopis control methods. • Facilitate training sessions for youth and women on utilizing Prosopis for income generation (fodder production, timber and firewood trading, production of seedball, and charcoal production from Prosopis). • Collaborate with the private sector, CSOs, and government institutions to promote Prosopis by-products. • Facilitate and coordinate quarterly meetings and annual workshops for the Somaliland National Prosopis Platform (SNPP) to promote knowledge exchange. Organize awareness sessions in communities to increase understanding of key environmental policies related to sustainable land management, deforestation prevention, and disaster preparedness]]

Skills and qualifications

Your profile 

 Experience in training, capacity building, or community engagement, particularly in land restoration or invasive species management. 

 Knowledge of Prosopis control techniques and its potential for sustainable utilization.

 Strong coordination and facilitation skills, with experience in multi-stakeholder collaboration. 

 Familiarity with environmental policies and regulatory frameworks related to land management in Somaliland.]]
