2.Objective of the Assignment

To manage, maintain, and strengthen the financial systems of Goodlight Energy Ltd using both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, oversee budgeting processes, support accurate reporting, and provide reliable financial forecasts to guide operational and strategic planning.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Accounting & Bookkeeping

Set up and manage company accounts using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.

Record and track all financial transactions, including expenses, revenue, payables, receivables, and reconciliations.

Monitor mobile money and cash-based transactions, ensuring all entries are correctly posted.

B. Financial Reporting

Generate accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow).

Assist in preparing financial reports for donors, partners, and internal use.

Track expenditures against project budgets and alert management to variances.

C. Budgeting & Forecasting

Develop and manage annual operating budgets and project-specific budgets.

Conduct monthly budget variance analysis and adjust forecasts accordingly.

Prepare quarterly and annual financial projections and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.

D. Compliance & Audit

Maintain organized and auditable financial records.

Ensure compliance with Somali financial regulations and tax laws.

Prepare documentation for audits and liaise with external auditors when required.

E. Payroll & Tax Administration

Process monthly payroll and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Prepare and submit taxes, withholding, and other financial obligations.

Skills and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/ACCA certification preferred).

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance.

Proficient in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.

Proven experience in budgeting and financial forecasting.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Experience working in the energy.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

5. Deliverables

Fully functional QuickBooks Online and Desktop systems with updated records.

Monthly reconciled financial statements.

Budget and expenditure tracking reports.

Quarterly financial forecasts.

Audit-ready financial documentation.
