BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
To deliver standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitoring and maintaining a wide range of information sources, to contribute to the effective delivery of Digital Assistance services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)
- Install and configure new computer hardware for improving and upgrading system performance; support any technology upgrades as required.
- Develop technical skills and knowledge and build awareness of industry developments.
- Carry-out system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as back-up system data and system protection, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
- Receive and inspect all incoming assets for Cash-based Transfers (CBT) and report discrepancies to senior colleagues and stakeholder Units (Programme, Logistics, Administration, Finance, Procurement).
- Perform basic beta testing and support the roll out of new versions of centrally supported systems to ensure software is operational for WFP staff.
- Ensure information is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, websites, and archives in order to support senior officers in managing these systems.
- With direction from senior colleagues, collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation and web content, to contribute to the availability of information about services and products.
- Follow set emergency response processes and procedures as required to provide support in enabling emergency food assistance needs to be met.
- Respond to queries from users, understanding and resolving issues, providing advice and ensuring Technology (TEC) policies, procedures, systems and tools are correctly applied to support them.
- Support the capability building of staff through the organization and/or review of training programs aimed at developing skills/knowledge in TEC.
- Propose change and continuous operational improvement that supports assurance measures, business capabilities, by defining needs, modeling the business and recommending solutions that deliver value for business priorities.
- Receive and triage service requests and incidents from staff, escalating tickets to appropriate technical teams for resolution.
- Perform other ICT related duties as assigned.
Skills and qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education: Completion of Secondary School education Or University Degree in Information and Communication Technology supplemented with Server, Networking, Security and IT Governance certifications.
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience with a Secondary School Certificate OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of relevant experience in ICT or related field.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in English language and Somali Language.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision.
- Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wide range of individuals.
- Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention.
- Ability to offer guidance or basic on-the-job training to more junior staff.
