Start of work: Subject to funding
End of contract: 1 Year Contract (possibility for renewal)
This position is contingent on the CISP being awarded funding and is anticipated before the end the year 2025.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
CISP is an equal employment opportunity employer with its Headquarters in Rome. Currently CISP has various field offices, including a coordination office in Mogadishu. CISP Somalia carries out humanitarian and development projects to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of Education, Protection, Culture, Health and Nutrition.
CISP is implementing projects funded by different donors, such as FCDO, UNICEF, EU, AICS, WFP. These projects, through direct implementation, are serving targeted communities in Mogadishu, Galkacyo, Hobyo, Gelinsoor, Dhusamareb, Guricel and Abudwak, while local partners support implementation of projects across Somalia.
CISP projects are implemented by a multi-disciplinary team, including program staff supported by the administration department based in Mogadishu and Galmudug.
Job Purpose:
The Curriculum Development Expert will support the implementation of Education project in the education sector.
Essential Functions
• Designs and develops new curricula for use in TVET training programmes.
• Supervises the implementation of curricula and makes recommendations on course organization and teaching/training methodology, development and use of instructional materials
• Continuously evaluates relevancy and accuracy of curricula content and monitors the progress and impact of training on learning.
• Prepares and submits reports to the TVET specialist on the progress of work and problems encountered in implementing curricula and makes necessary recommendations for improvements.
• Collaborates with Technical experts and government stakeholders to elicit information relevant to training needs and curriculum development.
Skills and qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Master’s degree in education specializing in curriculum studies/development or teacher education.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in curriculum development and review.
• In-depth knowledge of and insights into accelerated basic education and training in Somalia.
• Experience developing and implementing effective capacity-strengthening models
• Strong knowledge of TVET frameworks, programmes and certification practices
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the economic, and educational contexts of women and youth in Somalia.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including, donors, Public and the private sectors.
• Experience in gender programming and the meaningful participation of youth.
• Knowledge of the secondary and tertiary education system and TVET system in Somalia context.
