Senior Projects Accounting Officer (3 Positions) – Garowe
Horn Ridge is hiring three experienced and detail-oriented professionals to join our finance team as Senior Projects Accounting Officers. The role involves managing project-level financial records, budgets, reporting, and supporting decision-making across multiple construction projects. Candidates should be proactive, organized, and capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Financial Management
a. Oversee the accounting and financial tracking of all assigned construction projects.
b. Ensure accurate recording of project-related transactions in Ekstrabooks, including costs, revenues, and accruals.
c. Maintain project-specific ledgers, budgets, and cost codes in line with the Finance Manual.
d. Reconcile project budgets with actual spending, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
2. Financial Reporting
a. Prepare and submit project-specific financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and as required).
b. Generate budget vs. actual analysis for project managers and the Senior Finance Department Manager.
c. Ensure project financial data is included in the company’s consolidated financial reports.
3. Compliance & Controls
a. Ensure all project financial activities comply with the Puntland Inland Revenue Law, Labour Code, and company financial policies.
b. Review and verify supporting documents for payments, including supplier invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.
c. Ensure accurate and timely tax filings for project activities, including VAT and withholding tax where applicable.
4. Collaboration & Support
Support Project Managers in preparing project budgets and forecasts.
Provide financial insights to support project decision-making and contract management.
Coordinate with Procurement, HR, and Admin teams for smooth project execution and compliance.
5. Audit & Risk Management
Prepare documentation for internal and external audits related to projects.
Ensure project financial records are audit-ready and fully supported by required documents.
Report any discrepancies, risks, or irregularities to the Senior Finance Department Manager.
Skills and qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based environment (construction sector preferred).
3. Strong knowledge of Puntland tax laws and financial regulations.
4. Proficiency in accounting softwares and MS Excel.
5. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong organizational and time management abilities.
7. Fluency in English and Somali.
