Tender Notice: Production of Documentary on Climate-Smart Agriculture
Project Title: Unveiling the Potential of Climate-Smart Agriculture in Restoring Food Security and Livelihoods in Displacement-Affected Communities in Somaliland
Location: Durdur, Caqil Yare, and Burao University in Burao District, Togdheer Region, Somaliland.
1. Organization Background
Taakulo Somali Community (TAAKULO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-partisan development and humanitarian aid organization established in 2007 and headquartered in Hargeisa, Somaliland. TAAKULO works in partnership with international and national organizations to support disadvantaged communities through development projects, relief aid, and participatory local programs focused on human dignity and self-reliance.
2. Project Background
The project aims to address food scarcity in displacement-affected communities in Somaliland by introducing climate-smart agricultural (CSA) techniques through a gender-responsive approach. The initiative seeks to strengthen food security and resilience to climate shocks, benefiting approximately 44,700 people in internally displaced settlements in and around Burao city.
The documentary will showcase the project's impact and promote the adoption of CSA practices by highlighting key challenges, opportunities, and success stories. The objectives include:
- Showcasing the evidence-based benefits of CSA practices.
- Increasing community awareness of modern, climate-resilient farming methods.
- Providing comparative insights into CSA techniques (hydroponics and drip irrigation).
- Highlighting beneficiary voices, including women, youth, and marginalized groups.
- Informing stakeholders and providing a model for scaling CSA initiatives.
- Document few success stories.
3. Scope of Work
The selected production company will be responsible for:
- Pre-Production: Reviewing project documentation, developing a storyboard and script outline, and preparing an interview plan.
- Production: Capturing high-quality footage, recording interviews with beneficiaries and stakeholders, and filming project activities at multiple locations.
- Post-Production: Editing and producing a high-quality documentary, incorporating infographics and subtitles (in Somali and English), and delivering a shortened version for social media campaigns.

Taakulo Somali Community is inviting bids for the Production of a Documentary on Climate-Smart Agriculture as per the Terms of Reference (ToR). The bid submission period is from March 4th 2025, to March 10th 2025, with the submission deadline on or before Monday, 10th March 2025, (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
All bids must be submitted in hard copy to TAAKULO’s head office in Hargeisa - Buurta Kalajeexan, behind Ilays Secondary School, Hargeisa, Somaliland. Bid documents should be sealed, stamped, and marked with the tender reference number and activity description on the top envelope.
NB: Stamped documents are mandatory. Early submissions are encouraged. Queries related to the bids can be directed to the supply chain office via email: hussein.muse@taakulo.org on or before March 10th 2025.

Projects are basically based on the needs of the communities in which they are implemented where the beneficiaries always take part in the planning process
TASCO engages on a long-term commitment, partnership approach with the beneficiaries in implementing the Projects
The objective is to set up an integrated programs i.e
Health, education, Water and sanitation, Livelhood, Orphan sponsorship program, disability and children with special needs, peace building, improving food security in the country among others. TASCO has successfully managed to build significant relationship with government institutions, UN agencies, International NGOs and grass roots, this cherish work of TASCO in terms of funding, complementarity, knowledge & information sharing
